Why Do We Value Gold?~by Patrick Works
San Andreas, CA....We value gold for many reasons; It's beautiful, It's permanent, It has intrinsic value, and it cannot be denied once found. It is real. The first thing anybody interested in precious metals learns is that what glitters from the side of the path is worthy of investigation. This reporter found color and substance that could not be ignored while slowing down at the corner of Church Hill Road and Highway 49 in San Andreas....

As most should do at an intersection, my first look was to the right; I nearly left the road. I could not believe my eyes as they lit upon a phoenix...and then a dragon!
I had to slow down. I did; and then I discovered that I was not dreaming...but instead had found the grounds and gardens surrounding the Center for Creativity and Community.
At first I thought I had made a unique discovery; El Dorado at Last! Alas I had to follow in the footsteps of Donovan Agasi, current claim-holder and caretaker of the gallery etc. that makes up the enormous construct that is the CCC in San Andreas.
The nugget that made Donovan decide to plant himself on this spot was Sharon Armstrong. The glue that kept Donovan and Sharon together on this spot was Art.
Color...Beauty...and Love.
The Center for Creativity and Community is a real treasure here in the Motherlode.
Not just a gallery, the CCC is a property and a volunteer organization that seeks to help anyone who resides within, or visits, the Motherlode area to discover the treasures that they hold within.
Gallery space, creative commons of all sorts; from art workshops to organic garden projects, mentoring, counseling, and instructional facilities, and most of all people...people who not only want to help you find the treasure, but cannot help themselves without helping you. From kids to seniors, and hoping to bring in entire families and bring together entire communities...CCC has an open door and an open heart.
Dr. Armstong has had a life of experience as both an artist and counselor. Her work with people has brought her to her own art, ranging from mask making at an incredible level of both human understanding and beauty, all the way to the glorious and epic mythic creations that populate the grounds surrounding the CCC gallery space.
Donovan Agasi is the perfect foil for Dr. Armstrong, as everything She makes personal, Donovan makes abstract....as...well...he makes abstracts. Acrylic paint is the media of choice for Donovan, and has been for over 20 years. The current showing at the CCC gallery features Donovan Agasi's abstract work, as well as the work of Myki Quick, who's work seems to split the difference between the Abstract and the Personal.
From the heart and head (Sharon Armstrong) through the abstract and the dream (Donovan Agasi) into the tangible and concrete (Myki Quick); It is all there in one gallery. CCC Gallery on St. Charles St. and Church Hill Rd. in San Andreas.
