Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital and Soroptimist Offer FREE CHOLESTEROL TESTS
San Andreas, CA... As part of a continuing partnership with Soroptimist International of Calaveras County, Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital (MTSJH) is now offering FREE cholesterol tests for women in Calaveras County. “While other health concerns are more prominent in the media, we tend to forget that heart disease is the #1 killer of women over the age of 25,” stated Patti Monczewski, Interim Hospital President. “Working with the Soroptimist, our shared goal is to ensure that every woman in the Calaveras Community has a comprehensive cholesterol test.”....
Also known as a lipid panel, the test measures good and bad cholesterol and triglycerides helping to identify women at greater risk of heart disease and stroke. “Those identified to be of greater risk may be more mindful of lifestyle changes and treatments that preserve the quality of life,” concluded Monczewski.
The “Take it to Heart Program” offers the free cholesterol tests throughout the months of April and May to women who live in Calaveras County. A 12-hour fast is required as is proof of address. To learn more or schedule a test, there are three options:

“This is one of our most important services that we provide each year,” remarked Lee Croletto, Soroptimist president. “Soroptimist values our partnership with Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital to help the women in Calaveras County take a proactive step to insure their health and well-being by getting their lipid panel testing free in April and May.”
Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital and the local Soroptimist International chapter have provided over twenty-five hundred cholesterol tests over their 6 year partnership.
