Tomorrow's Calaveras County Fire Fighters Train for a Day You Hope Never Comes ~By Patrick Works

San Andreas, CA...With so much of our web content describing events on the roads in our area, it's nice to be able to illustrate and properly acknowledge all the men and women who as first responders are so instrumental in saving lives, but who are mostly anonymous. San Andreas Fire Department Chief Don Young was kind enough to invite thepinetree.net to observe Calaveras County Fire Academy students as they were taught how to safely extract injured motorists from a variety of vehicles and scenarios...

Tools and techniques to stabilize vehicles in sometimes precarious postures, all while possibly injured occupants remain inside and need to be stabilized themselves, turns out to be an incredibly complex operation. All these men and women clearly earn our respect and admiration.

Take a look at the little gallery of images by clicking the illustration on this page. We all hope this is as close as you ever get to a scene like this.
