Captain Keith Andersen Retires After 25 Years of Service
San Andreas, CA...Friday, June 29th marks the fnial day of Calaveras County Sheriff s Office Captain Keith Andersen's 25 year Law Enforcement career. Captain Andersen's law enforcement career began in 1982 when he was hied by the City of Angels Camp as a Police Officer. While employed by the Angels Camp Police Department Captain Andersen held the position of Patrolman, Field Training Officer, Detective and finally Sergeant....
In 1991 Captain Andersen joined the Calaveras County Sheriffs Office. Captain
Andersen's first assignment was at South Shore Camanche as a patrol deputy. In 1993, Sheriff Denns Downum created the resident deputy program as part of his community oriented policing philosophy. Captain Andersen was selected as the first Resident Deputy in Copperopolis under this program due to his close ties with the community and his ability to work cooperatively with the citizens. In 1998 Captain Andersen was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. While a Sergeant Captain Andersen was assigned to the Patrol Division, Investigations Unit, Special Operations Division as well as Administrative Sergeant. In 2004 Captain Andersen was promoted to the rank of
Lieutenant where he served in the Operations Division. In 2005 Captain Andersen was promoted to the rank of Captain where he curently serves as Operations Bureau Commander.
In addition Captain Anderson took a special interest in the Sheriff s Volunteer Unit. Captain Andersen was the department liaison to this group Personal Notes
-Keith was born in San Andreas in 1955
-1973 graduate of Bret Harte High School
-Keith is married and has two grown children, Christine and Jason as well as three grandchildren.
-Keith's father Bob is curently employed by the Shenffs Office as an extra-hie
Correctional Officer.
