45 Year Old Amador County Man Dies in Gunfight on Marijuana Farm

Jackson, CA...The following is the statement from the Amador County Sheriff's Office on the incident: On Tuesday September 27, 2011 at 2110 hours, the Amador County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a resident on Carbondale Road reporting that they had heard several gunshots. At approximately 2118 hours, a second caller reported hearing fifteen to twenty gunshots. At 2124 hours one of the callers reported seeing a white full sized extra cab truck and dark color sport utility vehicle leaving the property from where the gunshots originated....

Two Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived to the area at 2125 hours and
observed a white full size extra cab truck and a green Ford Expedition traveling
south west on Carbondale Road. Upon seeing the two patrol units the two
vehicles attempted to flee at a high rate of speed. The deputies lost sight of the
white truck as it turned onto Michigan Ione Bar Road but were able to overtake
the green Expedition.
Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies detained the green Expedition at Preston
Avenue and Wilda Court in the City of Ione. The vehicle was occupied by five
Asian male subjects, all of which are gang members from the Sacramento area.
A search of the vehicle revealed a ballistic vest, a tactical vest marked SWAT, a
red and blue dash mounted law enforcement light, several flex cuffs, numerous
pairs of gloves, several flash lights, numerous plastic bags and pruning shears.
No firearms or ammunition were located.
Amador County Sheriff’s Dispatch notified CHP and Sacramento County law
enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the white truck as it was last seen
travelling towards Sacramento County. Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies

CORONER (209) 223-6754 • JAIL (209) 223-6522
reported the vehicle was occupied by at least two subjects.

Simultaneously, Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a location on
Carbondale Road wherein the shots were reportedly fired at and from where the
two vehicles were seen leaving. Upon arrival deputies located a rural property
with several outbuilding and trailers and located an indoor and outdoor
commercial marijuana cultivation operation. Deputies also located an area
containing two trailers wherein an exchange of gunfire had occurred. There
were numerous bullet holes in the trailers and expended ammunition was located
on the ground nearby.

Within one of the trailers, a subject was located deceased. The subject was
covered in blood and was grasping an empty shotgun. There were two
expended shotgun shells near the decedent, who was subsequently identified as
He Ting Fu, 45, a resident of the property.

A search of the roadway and shoulder areas was conducted by Amador County
Sheriff’s Deputies immediately following the incident and on the morning of
September 28, 2011 by members of the Amador County Sheriff’s Office Search
and Rescue Team. The night of the incident a backpack containing marijuana,
clothing, flex cuffs and gloves was located on Ione Michigan Bar Road in the area
the white pick up was last seen. The following morning, two semi-automatic
pistols were located by the Search and Rescue Team on the shoulder of Ione
Michigan Bar Road within the direction of travel of the green Expedition. The
firearms were consistent in caliber with the expended ammunition located at the
scene. One of the firearms was reportedly stolen in Elk Grove in March of 2011.
Detectives from the Amador County Sheriff’s Office and the Amador County
Combined Narcotics Enforcement Team drafted and executed search warrants
for the property. The Federal Bureau of Investigations, Sacramento Evidence
Response Team is assisting the Amador County Sheriff’s Office with processing
the crime scene. During the execution of the search warrants, in addition to the
evidence of the gun fight, several additional firearms were located on the
property including semi-automatic pistols, shotguns and an assault rifle.

At the scene, 779 marijuana plants were found being cultivated, including 400
outdoors and 379 within several elaborate indoor cultivation rooms. Additionally,
approximately 8 pounds of processed marijuana was located.

While conducting the investigation, a subject claiming to be associated with the
property arrived. The subject reported that he and three other subjects were
cooperatively cultivating medicinal marijuana at the property. The subject was
able to provide medical recommendations for 198 marijuana plants. The subject
reported that the decedent was responsible for construction and marijuana
cultivation at the property. A subsequent search of this subject’s residence in Elk
Grove revealed an additional marijuana cultivation site with approximately 200
marijuana plants.

The Amador County Sheriff’s Office has arrested the five Asian male occupants of
the green Ford Expedition whose ages range from 18 to 23. The arrestees
names are not being released at this time pending positive fingerprint
identification. The subjects are currently charged with attempted robbery,
conspiracy and a gang activity enhancement.

The Amador County Sheriff’s Office has been collaborating with gang officers
from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office with this investigation.
Simultaneous to the execution of the search warrants in Amador County,
Sacramento Police Officers and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies executed a
search warrant at a residence within Sacramento County which is associated with
the subjects in custody in Amador County. Execution of that search warrant
resulted in the detection of another marijuana cultivation site, other drugs,
firearms and a large quantity of cash.

The Amador County Sheriff’s Office also received assistance and support in this
investigation from the California Highway Patrol, Ione Police Department,
American Legion Ambulance, Amador Fire Protection District, Mule Creek Fire
Department and Cal Fire.

This investigation is continuing and additional charges may be requested from
the Amador County District Attorney’s Office if the evidence supports new filings.
