Carlon Falls Trailhead Temporarily Closed
Sonora, Calif. (August 5, 2011)…The Forest Service announced today that the Carlon Falls Trailhead on the Groveland Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest, will be closed temporarily between August 5, 2011 through January of 2012 while bridge work is being completed by Tuolumne County crews on the Evergreen Road Bridge over the South Fork of the Tuolumne River....
During construction, the trailhead and parking area adjacent to the bridge project will be used as a staging area for construction equipment. Traffic over the bridge will be limited to one lane with no room for pedestrian traffic. Tuolumne County previously completed an environmental assessment concerning bridge repairs and staging of equipment at the Carlon Falls Trailhead and parking area. The closure of the trailhead and parking area is intended to prevent pedestrian conflicts with vehicles and construction activities.
For updated information contact Dusty Vaughn at the Groveland Ranger District Office at 209-962-7825 Ext. 525.
