Jazzin’ It Up in Jackson on June 25 to Features Art, Music , Wine and More!

Jackson, CA.....Jazzin’ It Up in Jackson will be a not-to-be-missed event on three blocks of historic Main Street in Jackson on Saturday, June 25, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. AmadorArts, a non-profit organization, is planning an activity-filled evening to call attention to the lively arts scene of this rural Mother Lode county and the revitalization of downtown historic Jackson. It’ll be free parking and free admission to stroll the street and experience three live bands, a Fine Art Show, shops open, and opportunities for wine tasting featuring Amador County wines, cooling off with a brewski from the Beer Garden, and enjoying a bite to eat from three food courts representing cuisine of local restaurants.....

Let it be known that Jazzin’ It Up in Jackson does not necessarily mean all jazz bands. It more truly means just having a good time. Three stages, one at each end, and one in the middle of Jackson’s Main Street , will feature a variety of music, from the eclectic acoustic sounds of the trio Over the Edge, to the rhythm and blues of the Leather Souls. Country music will round out the repertoire. Other strolling surprises will keep guests of all ages entertained. Event chairperson is Gale Fairbrother, on the Board of Directors of AmadorArts. She comments, “This is going to be the first of many more events to showcase Amador County artists, musicians, entertainers and restaurants. It’s going to be great fun, so come join us! ”

The Fine Art Show, inside one of Jackson’s business spaces, will exhibit and offer for sale works from the county’s best artists. Organizing this part is AmadorArts Board member and nationally acclaimed artist Sharon Galligan, who is looking forward to “showing off” the many professional artists who are inspired by life spent in the environs Amador County. All kinds of mediums will be on exhibit, from sculpture to paintings, abstract to realism; something for everyone.

If sampling the famous wines of Amador’s Shenandoah Valley, all in a 3-block area is appealing, then this is for you. You may purchase a $20 commemorative wine glass from many entry points to Main Street, then drop in at the various businesses indicated with balloons and sip samples. At least 20 wineries will be represented. A Beer Garden will also be set up in the center of the event. Picnic tables will be placed near the three food courts where local restaurants be offering delicious walk-away meals designed to keep attendees from going hungry.

DeDe Ryan, President of AmadorArts , says the organization is grateful to the City of Jackson, Jackson Rancheria, Jackson Business & Community Association, the Lions Clubs, and all the many volunteers who are working to make this June 25th event happen and hopefully become an annual affair. With the landmark National Hotel in the process of complete renovation, Jackson is set to experience a new rush economically. Adds Ryan, “The arts are a vital part of our region. Working together, our community will blossom.” All proceeds of Jazzin’ It Up in Jackson will benefit the all-important Arts Education programs of AmadorArts, aka Amador County Arts Council, a 29-year-old non-profit, public benefit corporation.

Free parking will be found in the Busi Parking lot on Highway 49, the public City of Jackson lot off Highway 88, and along the streets.
