TCEDA Small Business Center Opens
Sonora, CA.....Economic Development Director Larry Cope announced today that the new TCEDA Small Business Center is open and will provide a private meeting and a conference training room for business consultants from the Business Alliance of Tuolumne County and other partners. Through the Business Alliance, four business consultants from the Alliance SBDC, and over 13 active SCORE consultants met with 350 new small business clients in 2010. “There was a real need for professional office space for confidential client meetings. “Office space for consultants to meet with their clients was extremely limited, this new small business center will solve that problem,” explains Cope.....
Lorinda Forrest, owner of Launch Point Consulting and a current Business Alliance counselor agrees, “Having an office provided by the TCEDA lends credibility to our small business services. Now we will have a professional location with a phone, computer and WIFI access, and a space to spread out business and marketing plans. Privacy is very important to our clients.”
AT & T recently awarded the Economic Prosperity Council, the nonprofit arm of the TCEDA, with a $10,000 contribution to purchase ten laptop computers and business software. This new Center, along with the ten new laptops, will be available for hands-on computer training for small business owners and entrepreneurs.
The Business Alliance of Tuolumne County was formed in March of 2010 to streamline business consulting services for four agencies in Tuolumne County, and to provide one centralized phone number and website. The partners of the Business Alliance are the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce, Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority, SCORE Chapter 596, and the Alliance SBDC.
Services are free of charge to small business owners, startups, and entrepreneurs, including: one-on-one mentoring in writing business plans and marketing plans, assistance with financing, human resources, website development and maintenance, bookkeeping, patents, publicity, and understanding the resources and regulations of both the county and city.
