Calaveras County Sheriffs Volunteers Sworn In
Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum swore in two new members of the Sheriff’s Volunteer Unit during the volunteer meeting. The swearing in of the new volunteers confirms their responsibility to work closely with the sheriff’s department and the mission of upholding the law in Calaveras County. substations, patrol residential areas, businesses, schools, parks, and crowd and traffic control at community events. In addition the volunteers perform clerical and other assistance to the various department offices.
The addition of two new members will help strengthen the number of volunteers in the unit but additional help is always needed. Anyone interested in joining this unit is urged to visit one of the sheriff substations throughout the county or call (209)754-6500.
