In Loving Memory of Sylvia Carter August 31, 1929 – October 12, 2010
Railroad Flat, CA....Sylvia Mary Ward was born August 31, 1929 to Maude and Charles Ward in Manter, Kansas. She was youngest of three children which included Harold and Harley Ward. She grew up in Joplin, Missouri, where she met Walter Andrew Carter during their school years. Once he got out of the Army, Sylvia married Walter in Kansas on March 9, 1947. She was a devoted wife and she ......
got to spend 56 wonderful years with him. They began their family right away and had Marylee, Walter Jr., and Janet. They moved to California in 1953 and had Charla and Charles. They lived happily in Sunnyvale, CA for 50 years at the same address. She is proceeded in death by her husband Walter in 2003, son Walter Jr., in 1967 and daughter Marylee in 2008.
Sylvia moved to Rail Road Flat, Ca., in 2006 to live with her daughter Janet. They spent many years making handmade stamped greeting cards and jewelry together. Her son Charles lives across the road and she was able to spend a lot of time with him. She made several trips with us to Montana to visit her daughter Charla and her family. Charla came here numerous times to visit her mom. Marylee remained in San Jose and was visited as much as possible. Marylee moved to Rail Road Flat to be near her family but passed shortly afterwards. Sylvia tried to stay very close to her family. She loved going to RRF Community Bible Church on Sundays and studying the bible.
Besides being a wonderful wife and mother, Sylvia was a grandmother to; Garry, Alan, Aaron, Adam, Heather, Ryan and Kristen; great grandmother to; Andrew, Autumn and Branden. Loving aunt to Carin, Bill, and Brenda. She was truly blessed to have many friends in Rail Road Flat.
She went home to be with the Lord peacefully in her sleep on October 12.
