Angels Camps's Emily Stemler Passed Away Yesterday at 88
Angels Camp, CA...Emily Stemler, age 88, passed away on September 23 2010. Despite her age, her passing shocked family and friends as we now struggle with life without her guiding light. She was proceeded in death by her husband Daris Buck Stemler, her sisters June Ballard and Rosalind Genochio and brother Mark Carley. She is survived by..
her sister Aileen Adair of Stockton, CA, two sons, Don Stemler and Dean (Peggy) Stemler of Ennis, MT; four grandchildren, Casey (Jodi) Stemler of Littleton, CO, Cody (April) Stemler of Angels Camp, Shasta (Chris) Rogers of Jamestown, and Cole (Rossie Sellick) Stemler of Angels Camp; six great grandchildren, Derek and Devin Short, Karissa and Rayna Rogers, Ellie Stemler and Sophie Stemler; nieces, nephews, cousins, countless dear friends and many friends who visited the museum.
She proudly and happily worked at the Angels Camp museum for 27 years. During her tenure she shared passion and vast knowledge of Angels Camp history with anyone who walked through the museum doors. Earlier in her career she worked at the U.S. Post Office in Angels Camp and at Middletons in Altaville. Emily was part of the fabric of Calaveras County. Her grandparents came to the county in the 1840s and settled on Dogtown Road, where she and her three sisters were raised.
She was a mother and friend to generations of Angels Camp citizens. She was known for her caring nature, kindness, and willingness to always offer a generous hand of help. Her life was well lived and we know she will be greeted with open arms by the kingdom of God and by all the precious people from our community who have passed before her.
