In Loving Memory of Rae Amorette Hansen February 20, 1917 - September 9, 2010
Mokelumne Hill, CA.... Rae Amorette Hansen of Mokelumne Hill, CA died Wednesday September 9, 2010 of natural causes. She was 93. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Howard in 1990 and her daughter Wendy in 2007. She was born in Santa Cruz, CA and during her childhood and the Great Depression years, moved with her mother to Burlingame, CA. to be near her sister and her husband. She attended Burlingame High School, where she was very popular and active in her school years and became a high school cheerleader. In 1936 she met Howard Hansen and in 1938 they were married in Belmont, CA. at a family home. For the next several years she resided in Belmont with her husband and participated in the operation and .....
management of the family construction business. During these years her children Michael, Wendy and Mark were born and attended local schools, where she was active in school affairs.
During the latter part of this period of time she and her husband were actively planning for their retirement building a ranch at Rich Gulch, near Mokelumne Hill, CA., which was a family owned property, originally the Iowa Mine. They commuted on weekends from the Bay Area to complete the ranch and in 1964 she moved to Mokelumne Hill permanently, while her husband finished his career in the Bay Area construction industry. In the early 1970's her husband joined her in retirement at the Rich Gulch Ranch, where they resided until 1976. In 1976 they moved to downtown Mokelumne Hill, where she resided until her death. During these retirement years, she and her husband became avid motor homers and traveled extensively across the United States, Canada and Mexico. She had also traveled to Europe and visited several countries after the death of her husband. She is survived by her sons Michael and his wife Linda, Mark and his wife Julie, eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Her memory will be augmented in the fact that she and her husband shared the same birthday, they were married on their birthday and they passed away on the same day of the month in September. Together in life, they are now together for eternity. She will be missed.
As per her wishes, services will be private and for the immediate family.
