Sonora, CA...Many Americans are not aware that medicines that gather dust in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse.In addition, many do not know how to properly dispose of their unused medicine, often flushing them down the toilet or throwing them away –both potential safety and health hazards...
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, YES Partnership, and the DEA, are providing a safe, confidential way for members of our community to rid their homes of unused or expired medication.
WHEN: Saturday, September 25, 2010
10:00 AM –2:00 PM
WHERE: Tuolumne County Sheriff’s CSU Office
13775 Mono Way Suite D, Sonora CA
Back of the Junction Shopping Center, intersection of Mono Way and Tuolumne Rd.
Participants are encouraged to drop of all prescribed and over the counter medication except for intra-venous solutions, injectables, and syringes.Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container.Participants are encouraged to remove the labels from their containers prior to disposal. All participants will remain anonymous and no record of dropped off medications will be maintained.A Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy will be on scene to provide security for the participants and for the controlled substances.
