SMUG To Explore Time Machine During September Meeting
Arnold, CA....Time Machine, the program that allows Apple users to back up valuable data, will be the subject of the next meeting of the Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) to be held Tuesday, September 14 beginning at 7 p.m. in the assembly room of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District, 1037 Blagen Rd., just off Highway 4. “One of the biggest reasons to choose Time Machine to create archives is its ease of use,” states club member Phill Hoxie who will make the presentation. “Apple says it takes just one click to set it up, which may be true in rare cases, but usually there is a bit more involved.”...
Hoxie will walk the group through the details of setting up the program, backing up and restoring files, and various back up strategies. Having a way to protect data in case of system failures is one of the most important aspects of being a computer user.
As is the case with all SMUG meetings, there will be ample time for questions about Time Machine and any other aspect of getting the most out of your computer. SMUG meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. The organization exists to keep Mac users abreast of the latest developments and to address the nagging questions that arise from time to time. Its goal is to take the mystery out of computers and to enable members to take advantage of all the features their Macs possess.
SMUG was founded in 1995 and is a non-profit organization run completely by volunteers. Annual dues are $15. For more information visit the SMUG website at www.goldrush.com/~smug or call 795-3798.
