Rainbow Pool open after completion of stimulus project work
Sonora, Calif. (August 26, 2010)…Stanislaus National Forest Groveland District Ranger Maggie Dowd today announced that Rainbow Pool on the Stanislaus National Forest’s Groveland Ranger District is now open. Rainbow Pool, a day use area located on the South Fork of the Tuolumne River, has been closed for much needed renovation. Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, the construction project included seal-coating the paved roads and parking areas, upgrades to railings and walkways, erosion control, and improvements to the vault toilets...
including accessibility additions for persons with disabilities.
“We greatly appreciate the patience of the public while this much needed face-lift occurred and welcome back the many visitors who will make Rainbow Pool their destination this season”, said Dowd. “This is a great spot for picnicking and enjoying the beautiful Tuolumne River, and is a favorite place for many local residents along with visitors from distant places”.
Rainbow Pool is located on Highway 120 approximately 15 miles east of Groveland, California.
For more information about Rainbow Pool, contact the Groveland Ranger District at (209)962-7825.
