Railtown 1897 Taps into America's Love Affair With Trains for Musical Event "Singing Rails"

Jamestown, CA....On Saturday, August 21, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) is sponsoring a unique "Singing Rails" musical event showcased by classic and modern tunes that reflect America's longstanding love affair with trains and the railroad. In fact, three popular local folk music groups -- the Black Irish Band, Lori Brandon & Chris Miller and Cactus Bob & Prairie Flower -- will take the stage to perform time-honored classic tunes to the delight of visitors of all ages.....

With beer and wine served by the Sonora Rotary Club and a tasty barbecue dinner available for purchase from Lakeview Catering, the evening event begins at 4:30 p.m. and continues until 8:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as the relaxing outdoor event will take place on the sprawling front lawn. Tickets for "Singing Rails" cost $12 per person while children under 12 are free. Advance tickets for "Singing Rails" are available online at www.railtown1897.org or by calling 916-445-5995.

In addition to the "Singing Rails" evening event, regularly scheduled steam-powered weekend excursion trains through the Gold Country foothills are available hourly that day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets for steam train excursion rides aboard mountain observation cars are $13 for adults, $6 for youths ages 6-17 and kids five and under are free. Train ride tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket window beginning at 10 a.m. that morning.
Railtown 1897 SHP is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Reservoir Road in Jamestown, near Sonora.
