Railtown 1897 Taps into America's Love Affair With Trains for Musical Event "Singing Rails"
Jamestown, CA....On Saturday, August 21, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park (SHP) is sponsoring a unique "Singing Rails" musical event showcased by classic and modern tunes that reflect America's longstanding love affair with trains and the railroad. In fact, three popular local folk music groups -- the Black Irish Band, Lori Brandon & Chris Miller and Cactus Bob & Prairie Flower -- will take the stage to perform time-honored classic tunes to the delight of visitors of all ages.....
With beer and wine served by the Sonora Rotary Club and a tasty barbecue dinner available for purchase from Lakeview Catering, the evening event begins at 4:30 p.m. and continues until 8:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as the relaxing outdoor event will take place on the sprawling front lawn. Tickets for "Singing Rails" cost $12 per person while children under 12 are free. Advance tickets for "Singing Rails" are available online at www.railtown1897.org or by calling 916-445-5995.
In addition to the "Singing Rails" evening event, regularly scheduled steam-powered weekend excursion trains through the Gold Country foothills are available hourly that day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets for steam train excursion rides aboard mountain observation cars are $13 for adults, $6 for youths ages 6-17 and kids five and under are free. Train ride tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the ticket window beginning at 10 a.m. that morning.
Railtown 1897 SHP is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Reservoir Road in Jamestown, near Sonora.

Operated by California State Parks with assistance from the nonprofit California State Railroad Museum Foundation, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park offers year-round tours plus train rides weekends April-October (selected dates only November-December). Known as "The Movie Railroad," the Park and its trains have been featured in hundreds of feature films, TV shows, and commercials.
