Missing Boy Scouts Returned Safe
San Andreas, CA...On June 24th at 10:30pm, the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office was contacted by Staff at Camp Wolfeboro Boy Scout Camp in Tamarack. The reporting persons stated that two Boy Scouts were missing from the camp...
The Calaveras County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team was dispatched to the location and initiated a search. During this time, searchers learned that the two boys had been last seen at 4:30pm on the north bank of the Stanislaus River. When the two boys failed to arrive for dinner one hour later, the staff at the camp initiated a search, eventually contacting the Sheriff's Office at 10:30pm. It was reported that the boys were not carriying any supplies, and were not prepared to spend the night outside of the camp.
The boys were both reported to be 15 years old, and were from Oakland and Orinda, California.
At approximately 0800hrs on June 25, 2010, searchers spotted the two boys along the drainage of Highland creek in Tuolumne County, south of the Stanislaus River. A CHP helicopter was able to land in the area, and transported the boys back to the camp where they were checked by staff and determined to be in good condition.
In total, 5 Sheriff's Deputies, 1 Sheriff Sergeant, 10 volunteers, and a CHP helicopter and crew participated in the search...
