Gladys Parker Oakes, Homemaker, has passed away.

Valley Springs, CA....Gladys Parker Oakes passed away on March 15, 2007 at Mark Twain Hospital, she was 85. A native of Brownsville, Texas, Mrs. Oakes was born March 22, 1921. As a young woman she worked at Pan American World Airways and later at GTE-Lenkurt in San Carlos. She traveled extensively and made homes in New York, Mexico City, Miami, FL, Redwood City, CA, and for the last 17 years, Valley Springs. She was an avid golfer, loved to watch.....

sports on TV, enjoyed cooking, and most of all loved her family. She was preceded in death by Father Albert Kingsley Parker, Mother Juanita Weaver Parker, brothers Walter and Roy Parker.

She is survived by her husband, John D. Oakes of Valley Springs; daughter Donna Perkins of Murphys; daughter Karen Sue Oakes of San Andreas; grandson Dustin Riley of Kingman, Az; sister Emma Faucett of Pasadena, TX; sister Ruby Poer of Hernando MS; sister Mabel Drefke of Las Vegas, NV; sister Margie Spring of Slidell, LA; sister Mary Jane Ready of Brownsville, TX; and brother Jerry Parker of Brownsville, TX.

A private gravside service will be held at Buena Vista Cemetary in Murphys.
