Dance Parties Swing into Jackson!
Jackson, CA...Starting in June, downtown Jackson will come to life every other weekend when Amador County bands perform at the inaugural Saturday Dance Parties. Join the fun, bring the kids and enjoy live music while you dance under the colorful awning of a giant parachute in the square of Petkovich Park. The park is in historic downtown Jackson, across from Bank of America at the intersection of Water Street and Broadway. The event is free and open to the public. Fat Freddy’s hot dogs, Italian shaved ice, tamales from Café Coco and other refreshments will be available for sale. No alcohol, please. “It’s the old-style music in the parks, when families got together to greet ......
friends and do a little dancing” agree family business owners and organizers Trevor and David Stark, owners of Temple Studios, which sponsors the event in collaboration with the Jackson Revitalization Committee. The main focus of this event, in addition to great music and food, is “to get families back downtown,” David Stark added.
Beginning with a performance by the Geezers on June 12, the Saturday Dance Parties will feature live music from the 1920s through the ’60s performed by Amador bands.
“The emphasis here is on a dance,” Stark said.
The lineup is as follows:
June 12: The Geezers
June 26: Second Wind
July 10: The Tri-Tone Subs
July 24: The Geezers
Aug. 14: Speakeasy Jazz Orchestra
Aug. 28: Second Wind
Saturday Dance Parties begin at 5 p.m. and the music and dancing last until 7 p.m. For more information call Temple Studios at (209) 223-2884 and ask for Trevor or David.
