Arnold, CA...As we head down to the finish line in the District 3 Supervisors race the elbows are starting to fly. The McManus campaign has unleashed some very aggressive mailers and on the opposite side of the political ledger information on Bill's past relationships has surfaced. Remnants of a messy divorce, child support stipulations and a restraining order have recently come to light. These bring into focus that anyone seeking reelection or election to public office has to run the gauntlet of public opinion and disclosure of personal histories. It seems almost inevitable that in the closing weeks before election day that campaigns strike an increasingly strident tone. When we became aware of the newly public allegations we asked Candidate McManus about them and he agreed to go on camera and discuss them....

We also considered contacting the filing party in the restraining order case but we felt it would be an unnecessary invasion of her privacy at this time. This is becoming news through no fault of her own other than she dated a person that is now running for public office.
We recorded this interview this morning in San Andreas. We tried to find a quiet spot out of the wind but unfortunately a piece of equipment started part of the way through the interview. The conversation is clearly audible but there is a bit of background noise part of the way through.
We have the court documents and we normally post most of these but since this might affect other people than those running we are not posting them at this time.
