Catholic Healthcare West Donates $50,000 For Relief Work in Haiti
San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas announced today that its parent organization, Catholic Healthcare West, has donated $50,000 to Catholic Relief Services to help with the immediate needs of the Haitian people and $50,000 to aid in the reconstruction of the St. Francis de Sales Hospital in Port Au Prince. The announcement was made by Lloyd H. Dean, President/CEO of Catholic Healthcare West. “In the coming days, I know you’ll join with me in holding all those touched by this terrible tragedy in our hearts and prayers” said Mr. Dean...
“As members of the CHW family, we all share a dedication to serve those in need that reaches beyond the borders of our communities” said Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital President Feliciano Jiron. “The devastation is made all the more difficult because Haiti was still recovering from the deadly 2008 hurricanes when the earthquake struck Tuesday.”
Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital is a not-for-profit, 48-bed general acute care hospital serving all of Calaveras County. Established in 1951 as Mark Twain District Hospital and centrally located in San Andreas, the hospital is partnered with Catholic Healthcare West to further strengthen this rural hospital to meet future community needs. The hospital is supported by 31 active physicians practicing in 24 specialties.
