Leila Nayden has Passed Away

San Andreas, CA...At the age of 75, Leila peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side on January 9, 2010. Leila came into this world on May 25, 1934 in Angels Camp, California. She lived with her brother George, mother Doris and father Volney in Angels Camp for only a short time before moving to San Andreas. She went to San Andreas grammar school and graduated from Calaveras High School in 1952.....

She married her high school sweetheart Melvin Nayden on June 14, 1952. Melvin and Leila lived in Stockton, CA where Melvin attended College at UOP.

Upon moving back to San Andreas, they began to remodel an old house that Leila’s mother and step-father gave to them and that would be her home for the rest of her life.

Her son Michael was born in January 1953 and Diana her daughter followed in November 1956. She was blessed with a grandson Michael Blake in March 1985.

Leila worked at Treats Store with Nelda Treat for a few years as a bookkeeper, then began to work at Calaveras Casuals for approximately 10 years with Sandy Dragomanovich.

Leila loved her bowling trips with Nonie Winchell and friends. She also loved to play tennis and dance, dance, dance. Her home was always her joy and she loved to watch the birds and animals and especially the flowers of many colors fill her yard.

Leila is survived by her husband of 58 years, Melvin Nayden, her son Michael Nayden of San Andreas; daughter Diana Murphy and grandson Michael Blake Pennington of Vallecito, CA. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their extended families.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital and all our family and friends for their continuous love and support.

A Rosary service is planned for January 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Andrews Catholic Church in San Andreas, and a funeral Mass will also be at the church on January 15, 2010 at 11:00.

There will be a celebration of Leila’s life immediately following at The Metropolitan in San Andreas. Donations may be made to Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital
