Arnold Library Patron Appreciation Day~by Fran Devlin.
Arnold, CA....The Arnold Library was a beehive of activity on Saturday, October 3rd -- Patron Appreciation Day. Our community children and their parents decorated Trick-or-Treat Bags and bookmarks at the crafts table and enjoyed snacks provided by staff, volunteers and the generous folks at The Red Apple, Hathaway Pines. Door prizes were awarded to both adults and children during the drawings held every hour. At 2:00pm, Chief Dave Baugher, Ebbetts Pass Fire District, was the guest reader for Story Time, followed by a tour of the fire station next door.....
Our patrons – from Bear Valley to Douglas Flat - tell us they value the Arnold Library and the services we provide. They recognize that we are a community resource center for everyone – a place where children can discover a passion for reading and indulge in it as adults. During these tough economic times, this community has turned to - and depends on - the library for our wide range of free resources, from computer access, to books, DVDs and CDs, and for help with a job hunt or health information.
Throughout this past year our patrons have encouraged us during our successful efforts to keep the library open. They petitioned the County Board of Supervisors to save our libraries, joined us as we addressed the Board directly at weekly meetings, and since our materials budget has been severely reduced, those who can are contributing monetarily to the purchase of new items for circulation.
Saturday’s celebration was our way of saying THANK YOU.
