Murphys, CA....August 27, 2009 and ongoing – Alchemy Restaurant and Wine Bar - Locally-grown heirloom tomatoes are finally here! Never refrigerated, these yellow, red, and green beauties are sure to please any tomato lover. All we do is slice them, drizzle them with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper, and fresh basil pesto. Add a few slices of fresh mozzarella and our Hot Gold Nugget Cheesebread, what could make a better lunch? Get them while they last.....

August 27, 2009 – Thursdays at the Pit at Ironstone Vineyards. Join us for a casual chicken dinner with all the fixin’s at the outdoor cooking pit in the Chardonnay field at 6 pm. The cost is $25 per couple, $5 for children 10 years and under. Discount pricing is available for wine club members.

August 29, 2009 - Summer Concert Series at Stevenot Winery Presents "Thick soup and Snap Jackson and the Knock on Wood Players" at 7 pm- The Stevenot Winery amphitheatre is an incredible venue which hosts the Murphy’s Creek Theatre performances of Shakespeare Under the Stars. September 4, 2009 - First Friday in the Park from 5:30-8 pm. The Murphys Community Club’s increasingly popular First Friday of the Month Series will complete its 2009 season on Friday, September 4, starting at 5:30 p.m. Music will be provided by the Jazz Band of Columbia College. Murphys Caterer Melanie Klan will prepare barbecue chicken, beans, and salad for purchase. Proceeds from the sale of food and beverages help the club maintain the park. There is no admission charge so come down and enjoy a relaxing evening in the cool confines of Murphys Park. .
September 4-September 6, 2009 – Murphys Creek Theater – The final weekend for “A Skull in Connemara,” playing at the Black Bart Playhouse. For one week each autumn, Mick Dowd is hired to disinter bones in sections of the cemetery to make room for new arrivals. As the time approaches for him to dig up the bones of his own late wife, rumors start to circulate regarding Mick’s involvement in her sudden death seven years ago. The show plays at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets cost $15 and are available at 728-8422, murphyscreektheatre.org or at the door.

September 7, 2009 – Calaveras Community Band Labor Day Concert - The Calaveras Community Band, that traces its history to California’s gold rush days, will present a special Labor Day concert under the direction of Bandmaster Mic Harper in the cool confines of the Murphys Community Park on Monday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m. There is no admission charge for the program that will feature a wide range of musical styles from the traditional marches of John Philip Sousa to the swinging tunes of Benny Goodman. In keeping with the holiday atmosphere there will be patriotic songs like “You’re a Grand Old Flag” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” Families and other members of the community are invited to pack a picnic dinner and enjoy this end-of-season concert.
