"Come Play on The Byway!"

The Arnold Rim Trail Association, in coordination with the Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway Celebration, is hosting a community trail experience. The theme of the Byway Celebration this year is “Come Play on the Byway”; the Arnold Rim trail will be residents and visitors first opportunity to do so!...

Several years since the Arnold Rim Trail was first envisioned, the placement of temporary signage along the first 10 1/2 miles is being celebrated! To mark the occasion, the public is being invited to join in a number of activities which focus on learning more about our public lands and the Trail, Saturday September 12th. Group tours to experience portions of the trail will leave Arnold's Cedar Center concert area (behind El Dorado Savings bank) at 9am,10:30am,12 noon and 2pm. Destinations will include some of the trail's most prominent features and vista points. Hikers/Walkers, Mountain Bikers, and Runners are encouraged to participate.

Event organizer Tyler Summersett, a member of the Arnold Rim Trail Association steering committee, spoke excitedly about the trail,

"I am thrilled at the support the community has shown for protecting and developing our own local natural resources to encourage folks to get outside, regardless of activity preference. The Rim Trail Association is comprised of a diverse group of residents who have shown up over the last two years to help make the Arnold Rim Trail a reality and now we get to celebrate our National Forest and their efforts this coming Saturday, Sept 12”.

In addition to tours, a photo documentary of the first 10.5 miles will be erected, local businesses will be represented, music will play and a raffle to benefit further trail development and enhancement will take place.

Volunteers working together on trail volunteer days have come from hiking, mountain biking and equestrian groups and individuals that want to see a continuous high quality trail made available to all.

The Arnold Rim Trail is a concept first introduced by long-time resident Warren Alford earlier in the decade, as a trail that would encircle the greater Arnold area with 30-40 miles in its main stem and access to other existing trails. Since then, the Arnold Rim Trail Association effort has been spurred by a group of local residents collaborating with the Calaveras Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest.
"The Arnold Rim Trail is part of a fast growing nation-wide movement to connect towns, neighborhoods and schools with open spaces around them to foster appreciation of and healthy recreation in the places more easily reached with less automotive travel. The Arnold Rim Trail is truly unique and special among those efforts with an emphasis on collaboration from its beginning," said Arnold Rim Trail Association Chair Randy Crutcher.

Come find out more, join other outdoor enthusiasts and support the Arnold Rim Trail.
