Longtime Valley Springs Resident, Lorraine E. Cook Passed Away
Valley Springs, CA....Longtime resident, Lorraine E. Cook, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday August 13th, 2009 under the loving care of her children and hospice, after a long battle with cancer. Lorraine was born in Stockton, CA to Lawrence and Emma Martin. She graduated from Stockton High School in 1951 and married Clinton J. Cook in 1955. They were married 54 years before his death on March 1, 2009. Lorraine was employed as an accountant for GMAC until her retirement in 1987. The Cook's moved to Valley Springs from Stockton in 1976 to run Cook's Landing until their second retirement in 1993. Lorraine was....
a talented Artist, Gardener, Cook and Crafter. Her Christmas bags were legendary and she was likened to Martha Stewart. Lorraine's favorite holiday was Christmas. She had collections of Santa's and tree toppers, made wreaths and decorated her home and tree's. (at last county she had decorated nine trees).
She is survived by her daughter Kelle Cook Johnson of Valley Springs; A Son, David Cook of Valley Springs; Grandchildren Bryan Adam who is stationed in Afghanistan, Bronwyn Schroeder of Battle Mountain, NV; a Great Grandson, Dakota Puisis of San Andreas and a Brother, Sam Martin of Big Fork, Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence H. Martin and Emma Bingham Milligan Martin; Husband Clint Cook; and Siblings, Bobbie Montgomery, Mary Odneal and Larry Martin.
No services will be held.
