Wendy Christine (Phillips) Desrochers 05/23/5 – 07/25/09....Services Planned for September 26, 2009

Bear Valley, CA.....Wendy “Chris” Desrochers quietly ascended into heaven at her home surrounded by a loving family and the well wishes of her many friends. Chris was born in Seattle, Washington in 1954 to Russ and Betty Phillips. At age two she moved with her musician father and family to Hollywood, California and then to Las Vegas, Nevada eventually settling in Reno where she attended elementary school, junior high and was a spirited and accomplished student at Wooster High School. The family and Chris relocated to Sunnyvale, ....

California in her junior year and graduated from Fremont High School in 1972.

In 1973 Chris met and married David Desrochers and started a life together enjoying their favorite activities of snow skiing, backpacking, attending concerts and traveling throughout the western states. In the latter part of that decade they purchased a home as a vacation property in Dorrington, California and later moved to the area full-time to start their family. Soon they had three children and endeavored to make their children’s young lives full with skiing, school sports and activities. In addition to being a loving homemaker, Chris also became a volunteer teacher’s aide, soccer coach and cheerleader advisor; dedicating a great deal of time to her community and local youth programs.

She also used her love of the mountains and of skiing to become a certified ski instructor while teaching at Bear Valley Mountain Resort. As her children were attending and graduating from high school, Chris became very involved in the health care profession becoming a licensed CNA. Eventually Chris relocated her family to Minden, Nevada accepting a position as an office manager for a local doctor. Chris continued to teach skiing at Heavenly Ski Resort on weekends while working full-time in her other professions. She was regarded by fellow instructors and co-workers as a passionate, dedicated and hard working colleague. She will be remembered as a caring mother who loved skiing and music.

Chris is survived by David, her husband of 36 years; daughters Danielle Buckler and Ashlee Desrochers; her son Justin Desrochers; a brother Mark Phillips; her son-in-law David Buckler; a grandchild Aidan Buckler; her aunts Virginia, Marion and Cindy; her sister and brother-in law Sandra and Joe Cao respectively; her loving nieces Jenna, Lauren, Shondra and Lauren and various cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Russ and Betty; her step-father, John Hamilton and her infant son, Michael.

Friends and family have scheduled a memorial service at 11:00am at the Bear Valley Lodge in Bear Valley, California on Saturday, September 26th. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Pacific State Bank, 1013 Blagen Road, Arnold, CA 95223 c/o: The Chris Desrochers Scholarship Fund (furthering snow sports education through P.S.I.A.-W programs and scholarships).
