Our Arnold Library is at risk!~by Fran Devlin of Arnold Library
"The proposed Calaveras County budget for consideration this week in budget discussions proposes CLOSING all Calaveras County Library Branches. That would, of course, include Arnold! Times are tough and that's when Libraries are most needed. During these times of economic hardship, Arnold Library usage continues to climb as our residents and visitors turn to - and depend on - their library and librarians. Libraries are PART OF THE SOLUTION when a community is struggling economically. The Arnold Library provides the only.......
free access to online resources in our town. Our neighbors rely on the free internet access we provide for job searches, filing for unemployment, researching health information, and school projects. We provide free access to books, DVDs, books on tape and CD, free meeting space and more.
Libraries are among the most effective of all public services, serving more than 2/3 of the public with less than 2 percent of all tax dollars. Libraries support lifelong learning.
PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE ARNOLD LIBRARY. Call or write your Board Supervisor (Marita Callaway, District 3, which includes Arnold) and/or attend one or more of the Board of Supervisors meetings this week in San Andreas -- spread the word among your friends in Arnold!
THANK YOU
Fran"
