Tea an’ Tiques Announces Expansion and “Tea and Treats to Tote”

Murphys, CA--Darcy Sperzel, owner of Tea an’ Tiques at 419 Main Street, Suite C/D, Murphys, is pleased to announce the expansion of her business to include an additional 400 square feet. With the expansion, she has created a self-service tea bar, where customers may choose from over 30 teas and herbal tisanes to prepare a 12-ounce take-out “cuppa.” Patrons may enjoy their tea either as they browse the shop or outside in the shop’s garden courtyard. The tea bar will eventually grow to include a small selection of fine baked goods prepared and packaged by local bakers...

The shop has evolved considerably since opening in May, 2005. the early
inventory consisted mostly of antiques and collectibles. But Darcy knew she wanted to bring in different brands of tea and all of the accoutrements for preparing and serving this wonderful, healthful beverage. Four years later the shop now stocks six different brands of fine specialty teas and offers well over 100 varieties of teas, tea blends and herbal tisanes.

Tea an’ Tiques also offers a unique collection of Fair Trade gifts from tea-producing regions of the world including Africa, India, and South America. Recycled paper bead jewelry from Uganda, Zulugrass necklaces from Kenya, handwoven basketry from South Africa, handmade copper bells, tree resin jewelry and applicade bags from India, and gorgeous pottery and rainforest seed jewelry from South America, all add to the eclectic mix in this warm and friendly shop. There are even gift cards and coasters made out of used tea bags painted in native designs by women in South Africa!

Darcy also loves to find items that are new, but made from vintage salvage. She has offered antique button and silverware jewelry, ceiling tin shelves, and
bowls and clocks made from old record albumns and 45’s, and birdfeeders and birdhouses made from mason jars, plates, scrap tin and old gadgets.

So when you are in Murphys and need a respite from shopping and wine tasting, or want to learn more about the most consumed beverage in the world after water, stop in and relax with a refreshing cup of tea and enjoy the friendly hospitality at Tea an’ Tiques.
