Columbia College Hosted The Motherlode Business Summit ~By John Hamilton
Columbia, CA...The Motherlode Business Summit attracted a good sized crowd to Columbia College Yesterday. The attendees had plenty of instructional sessions on topics ranging from entrepreneurship, human resources, sustainable business practices to marketing, money management and more. The Summit was presented by the Chambers of Commerce from Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties, Mother Lode Job Training and Columbia College. The Keynote speaker was Paul Smith from the Regional Council of Rural Counties. The RCRC is an advocacy group for 30 rural California Counties....
He spoke on upcoming issues that will affect our area. On of the topics of interest was how the probable failure of the upcoming ballot propositions. There is a high likelihood is that the legislators will be back battling it out in July to try and fill budget gaps again. The positive side of this is that since there is a budget in place now vendors of the state will continue to be paid. He also when on to talk about some of the possible political aspects of the budget mess as well. We were just going to take a few pictures and move on but we felt his talk was worth passing along. The video below picks up on his speech midstream and it definitely is worth a watch.
The Summit also had had a hall set up for vendors to talk to current and prospective clients. It was a good show. If you are in business ownership or management make plans to attend next year.
