Where you can learn Italian, enjoy delicious Sicilian cuisine and try a myriad of Calaveras county estate grown wines. Per favore - join us for a specially prepared 5 course Sicilian style dinner and wine pairing at Noto's Sicilian Restaurant, 140 Main Street, Murphys. Chef Lorenzo Noto, born and trained in Sicily, will teach you Italian while pairing a specially selected, locally produced Tanner Vineyards wine with each course of his 5 course dinner. April 24 – May 17, 2009 - It’s getting’ hot in here! Starting April 24, Murphys Creek Theatre is going to the one-horse town of Maynard, Texas, with its production of “Laundry and Bourbon” and “Lone Star.” Two plays, two hot summer days, lots of laughter at the one and only Black Bart Playhouse, 580 S. Algiers St., Murphys.
“Laundry and Bourbon” and “Lone Star” open at 8 p.m. Friday, April 24, at the Black Bart Playhouse, and then play at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through May 17. Matinees will play at 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets cost $15 and are available at murphyscreektheatre.org or by calling 728-8422.
April 25, 2009 - Spring Lamb Roast at Ironstone Vineyards. Enjoy a casual spring evening out at our barbecue pit for a roasted spring lamb. The lamb will be roasted on an open rock pit with all of the fixings to go with it. $20 per adult, $10 per child, no host wine and beer. Dinner will start at 6:00 p.m. sharp. April 25-26, 2009 - Relay For Life of Calaveras County at Bret Harte High School on Murphys Grade Road. Relay is a 24 hour walk to help celebrate those who have fought the battle of cancer and won, remember those that fought this battle and lost, and Fight Back against Cancer every day. April 29, 2009 - FoCuS Educational "Sustainable Living Series” In Murphys. Sustainable Greenhouses and Landscaping by Jim Rende and Peter Livanos. Jim Rende will present information on constructing a sustainable greenhouse. He will cover construction materials, solar orientation, how to capture surplus winter heat to supplement your home heating as well as how to deal with heat build up in the summer. Then he will suggest a few things you’ll want to consider around the outside of you green house that will affect what happens inside. Peter will talk about what you can do to help yourself and the environment when landscaping your property. The main focuses will be: trees that help reduce carbon load, replacing non-native lawns with native bent grass, fitting food production into the landscape, and the way our landscapes are watered. May 1, 2009 - Look for Alchemy's new Spring menu starting the first week of May! Several old favorites will return, including "Greek Ahi Salad" and the "California Chopped Pyramid Salad". New items, include "Crispy Potato-Crusted Cod", "Cajun BBQ Prawns", "Angus Ribeye Steak", and "Mediterranean Seafood Stew". The wine list has some new additions, including Hovey Tempranillo, Twisted Oak Petite Sirah, Frog's Tooth Pinot Grigio, and Irish Blarney Red. Red wines will be served at proper temperature in the heat of Summer thanks to our new red wine cooler, set at a perfect 62 degrees. Check out our "Sierra Sunset Dinners", complete 3-course dinners for $21.95 served Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights until 6 pm.

May 2, 2009 – NEXT Upscale Resale will be hosting a flea market in their parking lot on Big Trees Road on the first Saturday of each month from 8am-6pm all summer long. Call Diane at 209-728-2274 for more information or to rent booth space.

May 2, 2009 - Come join the fun at Twisted Oak Winery’s Rubber Chicken Roast in Vallecito and enjoy food, wine and a raffle. Twisted Oak has planned a barbeque chicken dinner with all the fixings, including wine, for only $35 a person.
