Plane Crash Near Pine Mountain Lake Airport~Corrected Press Release by Paul Tualla
On April 21, 2009, at approximately 5:50 PM, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a plane crash near the Pine Mountain Lake Airport, in Groveland CA. It was reported that the plane had crashed into an empty field in the 12900 Block of Clements Road. Sheriff’s Units, EMS and Fire crews responded to the scene. Emergency Crews located two occupants of the aircraft. The pilot, who sustained lacerations to the head, refused medical care at the scene. The passenger sustained possible spinal injuries and was airlifted to a valley hospital....
The pilot reported that he was performing “Touch and Go” maneuvers when he lost engine power. The Pilot was able to land the plane in an empty field across from the runway.
The plane was a 1974 Beechcraft V-35 Single engine aircraft. The Pilot has been identified as Grandille Gaylor II from Alamo CA and the Passenger was identified as Casey Topalian from Castro Valley CA.
Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office, Tuolumne County Ambulance and Groveland Fire responded to the scene. NTSB and FAA have been notified of the incident.
