Preparations for the Frog Jump and Fair Continue ~By John Hamilton

Frogtown USA, CA...At the Calaveras County Fair Board meeting last week we heard about all of the plans underway to make the 2009 Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jump Jubilee a big success. Those in attendance couldn't help but be impressed with the intense efforts by the staff and also the hard working volunteer groups. The dividends from the community outreach the fair started last year are starting to pay huge dividends....

Check out those Saddle Queen Beauties!

Particularly impressive has been the efforts of the Maintenance Committee. Their work has not only save the fair a substantial amount of money on routine maintenance but they have made significant visual and safety improvements to the facilities that would have been cost prohibitive as normal budget items.

4 out of the 5 Saddle Queen Contestants were on hand to see first hand what efforts go on to prepare for the fair each year. One of the contestants mentioned that she was impressed and talked about attending even more meeting. Saddle Queen Director Michelle Lee was on hand as well.

All of the pieces seem to be coming together for the fair. With the all of the different groups contributing Frogtown is making progress even in these lean economic times.
