A Renaissance At Bret Harte High School ~With Video
Angels Camp, CA...There is a Student Driven Renaissance program quickly spreading through the Bret Harte Campus. It has been spearheaded by Codi Mills and Kaylee Huey. The program celebrates academic achievement in a fun, peer encouraged way. The program is open for any student with a 2.5 and above GPA. When we stopped by on Friday Bret Harte already had that Renaissance Feel with students wearing some great looking Renaissance TShirts.
Over 500 Bret Harte Students currently are eligible for the program.
Below is a Video with Codi Mills and Kaylee Huey talking about the project.
On Friday, April 3rd, Bret Harte High School will recognize its first group of “Renaissance Students” and officially launch the school’s Renaissance Program. According to the program’s mission statement, Renaissance is “a student– run, incentive-based program designed to promote and reward academic success and excellence throughout the entire student body.” Student program coordinators Codi Mills and Kaylee Huey will facilitate the distribution of Renaissance t-shirts and incentive cards to the more than 500 Bret Harte Students who qualified for the initial semester of implementation.
Students qualify for Renaissance by achieving a semester grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or above. Students can also qualify by raising their GPA by .5 over the course of any given semester. Once a student qualifies they are eligible for Renaissance incentives and events. Incentives are classroom and community based rewards for success and improvement. Events are designed to celebrate academic success and encourage others to improve their level of achievement.
