You’re up on top of Bear Valley Mountain at about noon. Stomach growls. You scan the runs you’ve been making all morning and think, “Time for something different.” At the top of Kuma Chair take a left and then a right past the “comfort station,” and ski The Lunch Run or Home Run, each about a 2-mile trek, down to Bear Valley Village! intermediate route, you’ll enjoy some mini moguls, sweeping turns and then a chance to prime your appetite as you work to “skate” through the residential area of the Village on Bear Valley Road. Once at the Village, choose from Headwaters Café, Sky High Pizza and Pub, Creekside Dining Room or Grizzly Lounge, in Bear Valley Lodge. Or put together your own meal from the Bear Valley General Store and Deli. Enjoy some shopping, and then take some time out for a massage at Trinity Wellness. Of course, if you decide to stay put right there in the Village, check out the great accommodations deals at Bear Valley Lodge.
After a warm and wonderful meal in the Village, hop on the Bear Valley Shuttle for your return trip to the Mountain. The free shuttle bus with ski and board racks, embarks every hour on the hour from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays and every half-hour until 4:30 on weekends and holidays. The shuttle picks up at the parking lot right outside of the Village shops. If you have children that might not be able to make the Lunch Run, you can entrust them to the Bear Valley Snowplay program on the Mountain where they get their own lunch and snacks, and a fun, supervised introduction to the snow.
