Cosgrove Creek Flood Damage Reduction Meeting ~By John Hamilton with meeting video enclosed
Valley Springs, CA...The Sacramento District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Calaveras County and CCWD have partnered, under CAP Section 205, to conduct a flood damage reduction study. This study and potential project is part of the County’s ongoing efforts to reduce flooding damages in the Cosgrove Creek Area. They held a community meeting on January 28 at the Memorial Hall in Valley Springs. Supervisors Merita Callaway and Gary Tofanelli were on hand as well as representatives the Corps of Engineers, numerous representatives from the county, The COG, Community Groups and Citizens....
This study is being funded by the Federal Government as well as a matching portion from Calaveras County.
They are collecting data on the best way to proceed in the affected area. There are different classifications of potential solutions from non invasive to making actual changes to the creek.
The will be posting periodic updates on the County Website and the next meeting on the project will be in 6-9 months.
