Murphys Celebrated our 44th President ~By John Hamilton

Murphys, CA...There were several Inauguration events and parties in Calaveras County last night. From Mokelumne Hill to Murphys residents and visitors celebrated the transfer of power and the start of the Obama era. When we stopped by the Murphys Inaugural Bash organized by the East Calaveras Democrats they were just getting rolling and already a good sized crowd was gathering. Everyone seemed in a festive mood and ready for what an Obama Presidency might bring.

The had speeches, video of the the President's address, live bands and more.

The event was officially scheduled to end around 8pm but they still partying when we stopped back by after 9pm.

We also were going to stop by another Murphys area party but ran out of time.

Below is a short clip of the crowd as they started to gather.

We had 3 local politicians address the crowd, A Dem, a Rep, and a Lib.

Almost all of them got the message the president framed in his inaugural address, you can figure out who didn't.

A very impressive end to a very impressive day. Thanks to the organizers and the Still Bill band was wonderful!
