One of Tuolumne County’s Most Wanted Arrested; Two Stolen Vehicles Were Recovered in the Investigation

Sonora, CA....On January 19, 2009, at approximately 2:00 PM, Deputies were dispatched to a reported suspicious vehicle in the area of Rogers Rd, Sonora CA. Upon further investigation, they discovered the suspicious vehicle, a gold Honda was stolen out of the Sonora area. Deputies remained in the area to conduct further investigation. ...

At approximately 4:00 PM, Deputy Lowry spotted a green Honda driving into the Rogers Rd area, where the other stolen vehicle was located. When he ran the plate with dispatch, it returned stolen out of the Pittsburg CA area. He attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene. Deputy Lowry continued to pursue the vehicle to the end of the road, which was a dead end. Deputy Lowry conducted a High risk traffic stop. He ordered the passenger out of the vehicle, the passenger, later identified as Cindy Durbin complied but the Driver, identified as Gary Hartman fled out of the vehicle into the wooded area. Sheriff’s Office Units, CHP and Sonora PD were called in to assist. A short time later, Hartman was taken into custody.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Durbin and Hartman were associated with the earlier stolen vehicle.

Hartman was one of Tuolumne County’s most wanted. He was booked for his outstanding warrants for Robbery, Assault with a Deadly weapon and fresh charges for Possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and obstructing a peace officer. His bail was set at $100,000.00.

Durbin was booked for Possession of stolen property, vehicle theft and an outstanding bench warrant. Her bail was set at 10,000.00.
