Public Inauguration Celebration Comes to East Calaveras Tuesday Evening~by Mary Boblet
Murphys CA……While Washington DC welcomes a new President with Tuesday's festivities, East Calaveras residents will join together Tuesday night in Murphys to celebrate Barack Obama's inauguration. Musicians are setting up, restaurants and shops are gearing up and the public is ready to celebrate! Beginning at 6pm and continuing on into the evening, party goers will have the chance to view the inauguration speech, listen to remarks from local leaders, and get their groove on with bands inspired to offer up their music in...
celebration. Local restaurants and businesses will provide food and drink and space to enjoy the evening with family and friends. Contributors include Obama supporters, local businesses, Democrats, musicians and anyone wishing to join in to mark the joyous occasion. Much like in Washington D.C. this will be the most open and accessible inauguration event, ever.
Several Murphys Main St. restaurants will both be open for business, including Firewood and the historic Murphys Hotel, plus others.
Inspired local bands include Schiraz, Still Bill, and perhaps others who want to spontaneously join in. Commemorative buttons and other items will be available for sale at reasonable prices. Bandera of California, a local embroidery company that puts a lot into supporting local communities, will take orders for embroidered sweatshirts and caps.
Supplies will also be on hand to craft a personal postcard message ready to mail to the home of President Barack Obama on Inauguration Day -- the first day the Obama family can call the White House their new residence and home.
