Jill Wegenstein Sworn in for Alpine County Board of Education~By John Hamilton
Bear Valley, CA...The November Election of Jill Wegenstein brought increased representation on the Alpine County School Board for Bear Valley. She brings decades of educational sector experience to the task. Jill Wegenstein and her husband Martin Wegenstein, who is now Bear Valley Resort's CEO, have been Bear Valley fixtures for years. Both of their daughters grew up skiing in Bear Valley and spent years on the Bear Valley Race Team as well. Jill and her Husband Martin now make Bear Valley their primary home after retiring from their careers in the Bay Area...
Many of the locals are excited to have Jill on the board as she brings not only educational experience but from her years in the community she will have a good feel for what a school district in a resort area should look like.
Some in the community are hopeful that she will help lead the district and school into building winter sports more firmly into the curriculum. This would allow Bear Valley to compete with other resort areas such as Squaw Valley and Sugar Bowl for the athletes of tomorrow. This would not only help the locals with offspring with high ambitions but it might also attract additional full time residents to the area.
