Bear Valley CA...(Update...Good News...Additional inbound units canceled) CalFire is dispatching resources to assist USFS Crews on a vegetation fire near Utica Reservoir and the area known as Slick Rock. Not many details are available at this time.

Jamestown, CA... A now deceased female was traveling in a 1997 Honda CRV eastbound on State Route 120 in the number one eastbound lane near Tulloch Dam Road. A second now deceased female was traveling in a 2007 RAV 4 westbound on State Route 120 in the number one lane approaching Tulloch Dam Road....

Angels Camp CA...Posted at 4:46pm on feed down main side of front page and our new site framework) CalFire and Angels Camp Fire are on the scene of a vegetation fire off Finnegan Lane in Angels Camp. If you do not belong in the area please stay out of the area. There is a Full Wild Land Dispatch Assigned with Additional Aircraft on order. Update: 6:12pm Fire Crews are working to box the fire in but there is a lot of open line and a lot of active spotting...

Ebbetts Pass Fire District Celebrates 50 Years |

Arnold, CA...Many in the community came and celebrated Ebbetts Pass Fire Department’s 50th anniversary on August 1st. After a 9am flag raising and brief ceremony, tours & meet and greets continued till noon. Station One was buffed, polished and ready to show off for the community. In their 50 years EPFD had grown into a model department for rural emergency services. One area they are very proud of is cardiac event survival rates. Even as a rural department they rank higher than many urban departments.

USFS Wildland Firefighter Loses Life Fighting the "Sierra" Fire |

South Lake Tahoe, CA...It is with great sorrow we must confirm the loss of a U.S. Forest Service wildland firefighter this evening in the Lake Tahoe area. The fire crew member succumbed to injuries suffered when struck by a tree during initial firefighting efforts on a new wildfire named the “Sierra” Fire. The incident occurred at approximately 5:30pm in a remote area between the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit and the Eldorado National Forest.

Washington, DC...California Air National Guardsmen and Air Force Reservists are assisting first responders in fighting ongoing wildfires in Northern California, the Pentagon’s press operations chief said in a briefing here today. Navy Capt. Jeff Davis said the blaze has been ravaging the Lower Lake area north of San Francisco and has tripled in size over the weekend. The fires have expanded to cover about 84 square miles and 56,000 acres as authorities ordered more than 12,000 people to evacuate their homes.

Lower Lake, CA...The fire has crossed Hwy 20 in multiple locations and crews are working diligently to control the fire’s progression. Firefighters are working aggressively to build control lines and sustain perimeter control. Terrain is steep and rugged with limited access. Resources continue to respond from in and out of the state. “RESIDENTS ARE URGED TO STAY VIGILANT AND ADHERE TO ANY CHANGES IN EVACUATIONS AND ROAD CLOSURES”. Fire activity and direction can change at any time, be prepared and stay informed. With the elevated fire danger, we are asking everyone to use extreme caution, “Ready, Set, Go”. Groveland, CA...Current Situation on Big Creek Fire. Crews are continuing mop-up and fire suppression repair operations. Demobilization has begun, releasing unneeded fire equipment and personnel. Motorists driving in the area of the fire on Highway 120, especially after dark, are asked to exercise great caution to avoid fire equipment and crews...

Sonora, CA...Rosasco Fire: The Rosasco Fire is a holdover heat signature from the Rim Fire. It is burning in deep duff layers, making it difficult to extinguish. Line has been cut around the fire and it is holding, in containment, at 3.4 acres. Though there has been no situational change since yesterday, crews will continue to mop-up and patrol the fire. The fire is located near Rosasco Meadow which is west of Cherry Lake and north of Woods Ridge, in the Groveland Ranger District...
