Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collision in Sonora Injures 23 Year old Mother & Her 1 Year Old Son

Sonora, CA...On Tuesday, September 12th, just before 8:00 p.m., the Sonora Police Department responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of Washington Street and Jackson Street. It was determined that a 1999 white Ford SUV, driven by a 78-year-old Sonora man, was traveling northbound on Washington Street and had struck a 23-year-old woman from Woodland California and her 1-year-old male child. The mother and her child were crossing Washington Street from east to west within the marked crosswalk when the collision occurred.

Turlock Man Arrested on Weapons, Registration & Drug Charges

Sonora, CA...Just before 4:00 p.m. yesterday, Officer Weber conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 Acura Integra for expired vehicle registration. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 23-year-old Daymian Ooshana of Turlock. Ooshana was determined to be unlicensed at the time and the vehicle was displaying false registration tabs. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, a loaded magazine and additional ammunition. Ooshana was taken into custody and transported to County Jail where Officer Weber discovered a methamphetamine pipe concealed in his clothing.

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept.."On Monday morning around 3 AM, Deputies were dispatched to a report of a suspicious circumstance at the AM/PM on Mono Way in Sonora. An anonymous caller reported he overheard subjects planning a drug deal that was to take place near the business sometime within the hour.

Modesto Man Arrested on Warrants, Forged Bank Checks, Grand Theft, Identity Theft and more...

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept.."A suspicious vehicle check nets two arrests for crimes related to identity theft and drug charges. Just after two o’clock Monday morning, Cpl. Benson spotted a white U-Haul rental pick-up parked on a gravel easement just off of Chicken Ranch Road in Jamestown. The female passenger, 27-year-old Heather Roberts of Jamestown, exited the truck when she saw the patrol car spot light and claimed no one else was inside. 36-year-old Thomas Alvarado of Modesto was found hiding in the cab of the pick-up. Alvarado identified himself with the driver’s license of a Sacramento area man. Even though the picture on the driver’s license did not match that of Alvarado, he stood firm that he was someone else.

Pellet Gun Wielding Snake Hunter Caused Concerns on Parrotts Ferry

Columbia, CA...Are you afraid of snakes? Apparently this was the case for a 42-year-old man who was found walking down Hwy 49 near Parrotts Ferry Road in Sonora, with what appeared to be a handgun. Deputies contacted him after the Sheriff's Office received several calls on Wednesday evening from concerned motorists. Deputies searched the man for additional weapons and upon further examination the firearm was determined to be a pellet gun. The man told deputies he was walking the roadway looking for rattlesnakes.

Quick Work By Sheriff's Deputies Aid in Containing Fire in Columbia this Afternoon

Columbia, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."Just before 1:30 this afternoon the Sheriff's Office received a report of a fire on the back porch of a mobile home at Columbia Sky Mobile Home Park in Columbia. The homeowner and two dogs were inside the home and were evacuated safely. Deputies were able to contain the flames until Fire personnel arrived on scene. Only one unit was affected and no further evacuations were necessary."

Trio Arrested at Chicken Ranch for Heroin & Methamphetamine Use & Possession

Jamestown, CA...Last night Deputies responded to the Chicken Ranch Casino for a report of drug use in the parking lot. Deputies approached the gray Toyota Camry and contacted driver 33-year-old Sean Bachman and passenger 24-year old Moriah Do, both of Manteca. A records check was done on the occupants and revealed they were wanted in San Joaquin County. They pair admitted to using heroin in the parking lot and were placed under arrest. A man who had been in the vehicle with Bachman and Do, was standing nearby with Casino Security. 24-year-old Mark Hyder was found to be in possession of hypodermic needles, heroin and methamphetamine. (Editor's Note: A Mark Hyder was arrested recently for drug use in front of Tractor Supply as well.)

La Grange, CA...On Saturday around 11:30 PM, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible boating accident just North of the Fleming Meadows boat ramp on Lake Don Pedro in La Grange. The reporting person had seen two flares discharged over the water from Fleming Campground.

Reconstruction Begins for Pinecrest Day Use Area Parking and Roads

Pinecrest, CA...A Forest Service contractor began reconstructing the Pinecrest Day Use Area parking area and roadways today. Contractor KW Emerson of San Andreas, California, will reconstruct Lot 2, the parking area adjacent to the Pinecrest Lake Resort snack shack in this first phase of the project. “This is a multi-season project,” said Tim Hughes, Stanislaus National Forest’s chief engineer. “Work will halt during winter as needed due to weather and in summer we will shut down work to allow the public to use the affected areas during the recreation season.” The work will continue during spring and fall construction periods through May 2019, Hughes said.
