Leonard has teamed up with Guy “Moon” Mullins of Moondog Motorsports out of Modesto to bring the night of entertainment to the Gold Country. ALPINE COUNTY — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close eastbound and westbound State Route 4 (SR-4) on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, for pavement repair work. The closure will be in effect from closure gate #2 (east of Lake Alpine) to Highland Lake Road beginning at 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. There is no local detour available. Motorists should consider SR-88 and SR-108 as alternate routes and should allow additional travel time to use the alternate route.

Three Arrested After Pursuit of Possible Robbery Suspects

Valley Springs, CA...On 9-24-17 at about 0100 hours, a Calaveras County deputy patrolling the Wallace area noticed a Ford Mustang travelling eastbound on Highway 12 swerve off and on the roadway, and then come to a stop in the road. The deputy initiated a traffic enforcement stop, at which time the suspect vehicle accelerated and fled towards Valley Springs, circling back towards San Joaquin County via Highway 26.

Groveland, CA...Have you seen this man? The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man by the name of Christopher Reed who is known to use an alias of Elton. He is a person of interest who may have information regarding the suspected homicide that occurred this morning on Black Road in Big Oak Flat. This man is described as 6'2" tall, 180-190 pounds, graying hair, goatee. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black and gray camo shorts and black flip flops. He has a tribal style tattoo that wraps around his forearm and a number tattoo on the inner part of his calf.

Sheriff's Deputies are on scene at a residence on Black Road in Big Oak Flat, investigating a suspected homicide. An adult man is confirmed deceased."

Angels Camp, CA...On September 23, 2017 at approximately 1:25 PM, officers from the Angels Camp Police Department were dispatched to a reported fight in front of the Pet Bath House located at 172 South Main Street. Witnesses of the fight reported that a male and female approached the "Justice for Cici" protesters in front of the Pet Bath House and began yelling at the protesters to leave the area. The unknown female flipped over the protesters table and struck a female protester numerous times with a closed fist. Another protester ran to the first protester's aid and began yelling at the unknown female to stop. The female then began yelling at the second protester, and struck the second protester two times in the face. Both protesters suffered minor injuries.

Sonora, CA...Just before midnight on Saturday, 21-year-old Xavier Benzel of Sonora drove into the parking lot of AM/PM on Pesce Way in Sonora. Deputy Knapp happened to be in the same parking lot and knew Benzel had a warrant for his arrest for driving on a suspended driver's license.

Both Sides of the Argument: I have been listening to the arguments made by the people supporting commercial marijuana industry and to those opposed in Calaveras County.  Those in favor of commercial marijuana cultivation argue that the ban will fail because there is no money to fund a ban, and the industry should be regulated. Only the good, responsible growers will be here and the county’s financial woes would be alleviated because somewhere between 5-11 million dollars that will come in from permit fees and taxes. That money will be used to ‘regulate’ the growing industry and protect us from unregulated black market growers. And there is the argument that marijuana has always been here.

San Andreas, CA...Tomorrow morning, Saturday September 23, 2017, deer and bear hunting season opens for our area. This is just a public service announcement for awareness of an increase of people in the woods wearing camouflage and carrying weapons. Bear Valley, CA....Traffic Update....Carson, Tioga, Sonora Passes Open...Ebbetts Closed. The Early Season snow storm still has Ebbetts Pass closed as the other mountain passes have reopened for the weekend. With warmer temps on tap for tomorrow I bet Caltrans opens the gates on Ebbetts tomorrow.
