Winter Pile Burning Beginning in Yosemite National Park

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/20/2019 08:46 PM
Yosemite, CA...Yosemite National Park will begin winter pile burning once conditions are favorable, after a significant cooling trend and an increase in precipitation occurs over the area.  Pile burning is an efficient and effective tool for reducing excessive fuel build up on the landscape. These piles are remnants of mechanical thinning from forestry operations and large scale landscape restoration projects throughout the park. These vegetation projects focus on meadow restoration, fuel reduction to restore native black oak savanna, fuel reduction in the wildland urban interface around residence and cultural resources, and piles leftover from burn area recovery efforts near the Ferguson Fire footprint.

Sender's Market's Big Thanksgiving Ad! Local Grocery Ad & Grocery Specials Through December 3rd!

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/20/2019 09:29 AM
Mountain Ranch, CA...In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we're still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you've got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered.

To reduce the risk of wildfire in these conditions, PG&E may turn off power to approximately 250,000 customers in portions of 19 counties in the Sierra Foothills, North Valley and North Bay. Other parts of the Bay Area are not expected to be included in a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).
