Fire Update....Firefighters Have the Mountain Fire knocked Down, Now Mopping Up!

Groveland, CA....From Stanislaus National Forest..."Aviation air attack was sent to help fight the Mountain Fire, near Sawmill on Highway 120 on the Groveland Ranger District around 3 p.m. The initial air attack was very effective and now engines and hand crews will remain at the fire overnight. There are two helicopters also remaining on the job while other air assets have been released. #OnlyYou #RecreateResponsibly" The latest image from the Alert Wildfire cams is below. Below that is an earlier photo from Air Attack.

Eleven New Cases of COVID-19 Reported in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On Friday, August 7, 2020 Calaveras Public Health reported 11 new cases of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. The additional cases include one male between 0 to 17 years of age, two females and three males between 18 to 49 years of age, two females and two males between 50-64 years of age, and one male over the age of 65. Seven cases were reported in District 1, Districts 2 and 3 had one case each, and District 5 had two cases. There were no cases reported in District 4.

The Reach 1 Boil Water Advisory Between Hunters Dam Road and Brice Station is Lifted

San Andreas, CA...The second round of state-mandated test results from the Reach 1 pipeline confirmed the water is safe for consumption. CCWD received the test results this morning. Samples were taken from different locations along the pipeline Wednesday and Thursday and the results show the water is safe. CCWD sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience of the temporary shutdown that occurred on Tuesday and for the subsequent boil water advisory.

PG&E Conducts Drills for Public Safety Power Shutoff Response with Helicopters, Ground Crews

San Francisco, CA....Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is conducting a company-wide, full-scale emergency exercise to prepare for the upcoming wildfire season this week.  During the five-day exercise, employees from across PG&E’s service territory simulate real-life events that could happen during a real Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). The drills include testing new procedures that will improve communications to customers, shorten the length of power outages and reduce the number of customers affected when power has to be shut off in an effort to reduce the risk of wildfires.
