USA Regains Top Stop in Global Competitiveness Index

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/17/2018 09:25 AM
Geneva, Switzerland, 17 October 2018 – The changing nature of economic competitiveness in a world that is becoming increasingly transformed by new, digital technologies is creating a new set of challenges for governments and businesses, which collectively run the risk of having a negative impact on future growth and productivity. This is the key finding of the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report, which is published today. According to the report, which in 2018 uses a brand new methodology to fully capture the dynamics of the global economy in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, many of the factors that will have the greatest impact in driving competitiveness in the future have never been the focus of major policy decisions in the past. These include idea generation, entrepreneurial culture, openness, and agility.

Yet, we know very little about caring for a dying person. We don’t know what to expect or how to prepare for our own death. And we’re often awkward at best when trying to comfort a friend in grief.”

Cherokee Nation Says Senator Warren’s DNA Test Undermining Tribal Interests

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/15/2018 05:13 PM
Tahlequah, OK...Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. issued the following statement Monday in response to Senator Elizabeth Warren’s DNA test claiming Native Heritage: "A DNA test is useless to determine tribal citizenship. Current DNA tests do not even distinguish whether a person’s ancestors were indigenous to North or South America," Cherokee Nation Secretary of State Chuck Hoskin Jr. said. "Sovereign tribal nations set their own legal requirements for citizenship, and while DNA tests can be used to determine lineage, such as paternity to an individual, it is not evidence for tribal affiliation. Using a DNA test to lay claim to any connection to the Cherokee Nation or any tribal nation, even vaguely, is inappropriate and wrong. It makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens, whose ancestors are well documented and whose heritage is proven. Senator Warren is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage."

Angels Camp, CA...On 10/14/18 around 7:30pm a citizen called in a suspicious vehicle parked near a storage container at the construction site of the new Calaveras Humane Society building on Highway 49 just outside of Angels Camp. Three Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on scene within a couple minutes. A deputy saw a male subject, later identified as Eric Hendryx (age 42 from Oakland) at one of the storage containers. It appeared to the deputy that Hendryx was manipulating the lock on the storage container. When the deputy turned on his emergency lights, Hendryx ran away. The deputy pursued Hendryx on foot and found Hendryx down a small hill lying on the ground entangled in barbed wire. The deputy detained Hendryx. Meanwhile other deputies began checking around the parked vehicle. Deputies located and detained a second subject, Jason Hackmeier (age 44 from Valley Springs).
