Latest News and Fishing Report for New Melones~by Melanie at Glory Hole Sports

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 04/04/2011 08:14 PM
New Melones, CA....The lake level continues to rise, and will be at full capacity with the snow melt. It is only 39 feet from full, which is 1088 feet. In 1998 it reached 1085 feet- the highest it has ever been. Update on Soldiers: Sad news this week from Afghanistan. The 101st Airborne, the platoon that we were supporting, is still there, although they have been schedule to come home any day. They lost another soldier last week. Here is the e-mail I received from Sgt. Daniel Kelly's mother: "Hi Melanie, Last night Danny informed me of another loss to his unit, Ofren Arrechaga. I do believe you were sending him packages for a while too. Danny and his fiance, Brittany, are going to Dover tonight with Seana (wife) to await Ofren's arrival.....

The Kid Connection....."Education: What Your Child’s Principal Wants You To Know"~by Stefanie Pechan

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 01/25/2011 11:25 PM
You probably walked by that office a thousand times or so during your school career. Ever wonder what went on behind that door? Here’s your chance to find out. So, what goes on behind that famous door? Believe it or not, principals do more than handle the discipline end of things. Here are just a few items on their “to do” list: Site budget/managing all fiscal aspects of the school, staffing, maintenance, data and record keeping, numerous meetings (before, during, and after school hours), classroom visits, curriculum, monitoring of federal and state requirements…..(the list goes on)….but most importantly he/she is a leader for students, staff, and parents alike and should be regarded as a valuable resource. .....

The Kid Connection...Date Night: Restaurant Hopping~by Stefanie Pechan

Posted by: thepinetree on 01/20/2011 07:45 PM
It is so easy to get caught up in being “Mom” or “Dad” and forget about being a couple. It sounds un-romantic, but sometimes you’ve just got to schedule in alone time. Tonight is our wedding anniversary. The babysitter has arrived and we are out of here! My husband and I have a few restaurants that we’ve been wanting to try but date nights are not a common occurrence, (read: it’s expensive when you factor in the babysitting bill in with the restaurant tab). However, we decided to make the most of this night by trying all THREE restaurants. Yep, all three. ....

The Kid Connection..."Holidays: To travel or not to travel?"~by Stefanie Pechan

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 12/17/2010 09:11 PM
This past Thanksgiving we did something we had not ever done before. We stayed home and family came to us. With three little ones, we finally put our foot down on traveling every single holiday. It just got to be too much: the “are we there yets”, tantrums at being in the car so long (even with multiple DVD’s), the “he’s on my side”; the list goes on. So, for the first time, we woke up Thanksgiving morning and leisurely went about our day until dinner time. We didn’t get in the car that entire weekend!......

The Kid Connection... "Bedtime Battles"~by Stefanie Pechan

Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 11/12/2010 10:16 AM
I’ll admit, bedtime is one of my favorite times of day. Once my children are asleep, I can actually get a lot crossed off my to-do list. The road to dreamland can be, for the most part, quite easy.
