County Opens Emergency Operations Center in Response to Extreme Winter Storm

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras County is receiving extreme weather conditions including high winds, freezing temperatures, severe rains and snow that has caused power outages throughout the county, and made travel extremely difficult. Calaveras County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is working with operational partners throughout the county to clear roads, and restore power.





Mountain Impact:
• Dangerous travel conditions
• Extended travel delays and chain controls likely with road closures
• Significant reduction in visibility at time from blowing snow
Timing:
• Heaviest snow expected through this evening
• Lighter accumulations: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
Confidence:
• High confidence in heavy snow through today
• Medium confidence for amounts Tuesday onwards
Snow continues today with additional amounts up to 1 to 2 feet
• Snow levels 1500-2500 feet this morning, lowering to 500-1500 this afternoon
• Low snow levels continue into Wednesday
Calaveras County Road Information:
Calaveras County Public Works has snow removal crews working around the clock to clear County maintained roads, while Cal-Trans is working to clear the State Highways.

• HWY4 at Blue Lakes
• HWY 88 at Dew Drop
