Angels Camp Resident Reports Suspicious Activity
Angels Camp, CA...On May 6, 2018 at approximately 7:00 AM, the Angels Camp Police Department received a call from a resident in the 600 block of Gardner Lane reporting a suspicious circumstance. The resident was sitting in a vehicle in her driveway when she witnessed a blue PT Cruiser stop on the street near her driveway. She watched as the driver of the PT Cruiser remained in the vehicle and two males exited the PT Cruiser. The two males walked up to a second vehicle that was parked in the resident's driveway. The male subjects attempted to open the door of the second vehicle and were unable to gain access. When the males turned around, they saw the resident sitting in the first vehicle. The males then returned to the PT Cruiser and left the area.
The resident called the Angels Camp Police Department and gave a description of the vehicle and the occupants, and the direction that the vehicle was last seen traveling. An officer located the unoccupied vehicle in the 600 block of Stanislaus Ave.
As the officer walked up to the PT Cruiser, a female approached the officer and told him that she was one of the people that were at the residence on Gardner Lane. She told the officer that she and the male subjects were looking for a friend that lived in the area, and left the area when they realized they were at the wrong house.
This incident is another good example of alert citizens cooperating with their local law enforcement to prevent the quality-of-life property crimes that are plaguing our area. The Angels Camp Police Department would like to remind residents to call 911 immediately when you observe in-progress activity that is criminal in nature. Non-emergency business lines may be utilized to report other suspicious activity.
