Artist Martha J. Wallace Passed Away on December 12 at 68
Arnold, CA...Martha J. Wallace passed away following a short illness on December 12, 2017 surrounded by her family and friends at the age of 68. Born in the Bay Area, Martha spent her youth in Castro Valley. She studied art in high school and college and began painting in watercolor in 1975. Martha, and her family settled in the Arnold area in 1977.
 
Martha was a highly accomplished professional artist. She has worked in many art mediums, including pen and ink, acrylics, collage and water color and has studied with many well-known watercolorists throughout her career. Martha viewed her work with watercolors as an ongoing journey and her work reflected her many interests and life travels. Martha often shared with others, “Every day I get to do something I love.” She was an artist who was always learning and growing in her art while at the same time serving as an inspiration to others. Martha’s work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and her paintings are displayed in many private collections all over the world. Her paintings have earned her many accolades and awards. Martha was also a talented teacher who taught private classes to children and adults in her Murphys studio beginning in 1982 and has served as an Artist in the Schools in Calaveras County since 1989.
Martha’s many talents and joy for life had a powerful impact on so many lives...her family, friends, students and community alike. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Scott Wallace and sons Jesse Wallace and his wife Julie Wallace, Joshua Wallace and Zachariah Wallace, her sister Beth Fellman and brother-in-law Erick Fellman and grandsons Nicholas and Jacob Wallace. Her passion for art was only surpassed by her deep love of her family.
Martha's beautiful art and her joy for life will be missed by many. A celebration of Martha’s life will be announced in the spring.
