Great & Lifesaving Work By Local Deputies According To Sheriff Rick DiBasilio

Murphys, CA...This morning Sheriff DiBasilio shared the following.."Last night Calaveras sheriff's patrol staff was dispatched to a medical aid on French Gulch Road in Murphys. The original report was a two year old unresponsive and not breathing, which caught the attention of everyone. Deputy Houston, Corporal Cechini and Angels PD responded and arrived within only a few minutes and were met with a frantic family in the driveway. Deputy Houston rushed into the house and immediately took over CPR on a juvenile. The juvenile was unresponsive and his color was fading quickly, which for a first responder is an obvious sign of a serious condition. Deputy Houston's quick actions revived the juvenile to a state where he began breathing again and was manageable for transportation to Mark Twain Hospital.

When the juvenile arrived he was taken under doctors care and slowly brought into a stable condition. The juvenile is recovering at this time. I would like to commend the actions of our patrol staff, in particular Deputy Houston, they were heroic.

As a first responder you are expected to do certain things, but there is something special about the members of this patrol staff, as this was the second life saved in as many days because of swift action on their part!"
